"You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house..." 1 Peter 2:5 NIV
This abstract painting suggests the idea of living stones, (a term used by Peter to describe the people of the church) surrounded by a larger Living Stone, Jesus Christ, thus giving a sense of community, a Community of Believers. Every stone is made alive and active by the Holy Spirit, represented by the red area in the top center.
One stone (person) by itself can't accomplish what many working together can accomplish. We need community to do God's work. In the book, Believe, Randy Franzee writes, "we must make Biblical Community a priority in order to accomplish God's purposes in our lives, in the lives of others and in the world."
As enthusiastic promoters of neighborhood groups, Randy and Rozanne Frazee point out an additional benefit in their book, Believe 365-Day Devotional, "The right kind of support or community encourages us to live better physically and spiritually."
