"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:13 NIV
Who among us has not had turmoil associated with the need to forgive someone or be forgiven? As we travel our path in life, we encounter times when forgiveness becomes an important but difficult issue for us. Forgiveness sounds easy when we hear about it from the pulpit; but both forgiving and asking for forgiveness involve a struggle with our spiritual, intellectual and emotional sides.
At times the turmoil (texture) associated with forgiveness can be overpowering and at the forefront of our minds. But God (gold) promises to be with us as we are transformed and grow (green) during the process.
Being mindful of Christ's sacrifice (red) and our Lord's ongoing love and forgiveness of each of us causes us to consider such situations on a deeper level. The words "forgive as the Lord forgave you" cause us to stop and reflect.
The result of forgiveness is that it may inwardly heal both those forgiven and those who forgive.
